By 1066 wales once again independent kingdoms. William of Normandy conquered Harold and gave land on the welsh border to his followers. His followers then attacked the independent kingdoms of Wales and took over most of the country. The north, west, and central princes were able to get much of their land back. In 1216 the welsh prences declared Llywelyn ab lorwerth as overlord. He continued to rule until his death in 1240. In 1267 the Treaty of Montgomery declared that Llwelyn ap Gruffydd held all of Wales. Also that it was not a provence of England. Wales recovering from Civil War was still fighting to remain free. in 1282 Llywelyn was killed in an unexpected skermish, his head was sent to London with a list of Engilish supporters.
Edward the first created his ow principality of Wales based on the Engilish system. He ave this principality to his Son Edward. Five major uprisings took place before 1400.
