Outline:
This was a £3 million twice-weekly weekend soap (Fridays & Sundays) to counter attack the BBC's newly launched soap EastEnders.
It was set on a street market in Manchester and dealt with such issues as social and ethnics with some cast as Jewish, West Indian, Pakistani and Vietnamese.

As time went on Granada (the production company) tried something extra as they noticed that viewing figures were dropping below that of Brookside over on the minority channel Channel 4. Sixties pop singer Helen Shapiro appeared as hairdresser Viv and 'Till Death Us Do Part' star Tony Booth played landlord Ted Pilkington, but it came too late and all was lost within just a year of opening.

• Only 100 x 30 minutes episodes were made.
  
• Albion Market was made by the same producers as Coronation Street. Bill Podmore was in charge for Granada TV.
  
• The external shots were filmed at Salford, Greater Manchester.
  
• The series went out on Fridays & Sundays.
  
• According to The Bus Station Net, a Salford Leyland Titan PD2/MCW 254 (FRJ254D) made an appearance as a market promotional vehicle.

Was there a character in Albion Market called Billy Bush or Billy Bushel? My only clear memory of the soap is a character played by an actor whose name I don't know but a few years ago seemed to be playing minor roles in several TV dramas- he was dark haired with prominent cheek bones. Have I dreamed that this character existed? I can't find anyone who seems to be him on the cast list?

• Jonathan Barlow who played Roy Harrison also appeared in Coronation Street as Geoff Singleton, Gail Tisley's boyfriend during her break up from hubbie Brian as well as starring in Crossroads and Brookside.
  
• Anthony Booth played pub owner Ted Pilkington also appeared in Family Affairs, Doctors, Coronation Street and EastEnders.
  
• Hetta Charnley who played Janet Owen went on to play Lorna in Doctors.
  
• Souad Faress went on to play Usha Gupta in BBC Radio 4's The Archers and then Urmila Alahan in Coronation Street.
  
• Another Coronation Street actor was David Hargreaves who played Bob, Suzie Birchalls father in 1977.
  
• Jane Hazlegrove played Debbie Taylor and also appeared in Coronation Street and Families.
  
• Derek Hicks, who played the Assistant Market Inspector also starrted in Brookside as Sean Roach.
  
• Seeta Indrani who played Sita Sharma also played Anita in the radio soap Citizens and Apala in Damon and Debbie.
  
• Rashid Karapiet who played Narya Vyas went on to play Mr. Ahmed in an epiosde in Doctors.
  
• Carol Kaye who played Miriam Ransome also played Maureen Slater in Coronation Street.
  
• Noreen Kershaw who played Lynne Harrison also appeared in Coronation Street as a daughter to one of Annie Walkers friends as well as Kathy Roach in Brookside and in Emmerdale.
  
• Geoffrey Leesley has appeared in many soaps as well as this one, he's been in General Hospital, Emmerdale Farm (as it was originally known) and Brookside.
  
• Pik Sen Lim who played Ly Nhu Chan had appeared as Nurse Kwei in Emergency: Ward 10 as well as Mrs. Mori in Night & Day.
  
• Jamila Massey who was Susha Sharma also played in both EastEnders and The Archers.
  
• Seamus O'Neill also appeared in Coronation Street and Emmerdale.
  
• Andy Rashleigh is a soap verteran starring in Coronation Street, Crossroads, EastEnders, Emmerdale Farm and the sci-fi soap Jupiter Moon.
  
• Simon Souse has also appeared in EastEnders.
  
• Barbara Wilshere who played Carol Broadbent also played Deirdre Parker in an episode of Doctors.
