Jake, Rachel, Tobias, Cassie and Marco hooked up on their way home from the mall, cutting through the abandoned construction site to skip a few blocks walk. Tobias catches sight of a light in the sky. It was moving toward them.
War Prince Elfangor emerges from the Andalite ship that lands before them. He informs them of what's happening to Earth. It's being secretly took over by an alien race called the Yeerks. Elfangor then gives them the power to morph into any animal they touch, right before Visser Three, leader of the Yeerk army, lands and morphs his Andalite host body into an alien monster and swallows Elfangor. The next morning, after escaping the Yeerks, Tobias visits Jake's house and morphs his cat, Dude. Jake follows Tobias' example and morphs his own pet, a dog, Homer. Jake aquires a lizard and looks around his school. He finds an enterance to the underground complex called the Yeerk Pool where the Yeerks go every three days to 'feed'. The soon-to-be-named-Animorphs investagate a meeting of a youth group called 'The Sharing'. They find it is mearly a front for the Yeerks to aquire new host bodies. They decide to go to the Gardens, a kind of amusement park/zoo, to aquire 'battle morphs'. They split up and Jake and Marco get into a spot of bother. They escape and the Animorphs decide to attack the Yeerk Pool itself. They get alot of temporeraly freed hosts killed or recaptured and end up escaping with but one young woman. Tobias couldn't escape with the others and had to stay in morph over the two hour limit and become perminantly trapped as a red-tailed hawk. |
