Melissa Chapman, Assistant Principal Chapman's, a high-ranking controller, Daughter, was once Rachel's best friend, but, over time, they grew appart.
The animorphs need a way to get close to Chapman and they only way they can think of is Melissa. But then they see another way; Fluffer McKitty, Melissa's pet cat. The only way to get hold of Fuffer is to lure it into a trap. Rachel morphs a shrew and is almost overwhelmed by it's instincts, however they catch the cat and Rachel aquires and morphs him. She enters Chapman's home while the others look after the real cat. She follows him into his basement and through a secret wall were there is a holographic communicator and Chapman talks to Visser Three. They notice Rachel but just think that she is the real cat. Visser Three says the cat better not be there next time they communicate for that means it is likly an 'andalite'. Rachel doesn't tell the other Animorphs that part and Jake doesn't trust her so the next night, when Rachel returns and hides under a table, Jake is in flea morph on her back. Rachel hides under a table and is caught. Chapman takes rachel to Visser Three but the other Animorphs follow and help Jake and Rachel escape. |
