Bandbox are a group of music fans who hope to revive the live music scene for thoughtful, roots-based artists in and around Torbay. What does this "mission statement" mean in plain english? Well, simply that we want to see good top quality Americana, blues, country and folk acts playing in the Bay. At present that means putting on shows at The Blue Walnut in Chelston. We also would like to encourage musically sympathetic, local acts to play support to these artists.

Her latest album "Two Birds" was released in November 2005 and hopes to follow on the success of "Honeysuckle" and "Frost" - both of which garnered Kirsty nominations at The Radio 2 Folk Awards and daytime Radio 2 airplay for "Coffee Coloured Strings". US singer-songwriter Doug Hoekstra has been touring the UK and Europe regularly over the last half decade or so, winning critical praise for his carefully crafted narrative songs. Live, he mostly plays with just an acoustic guitar to accompany his voice, although, from time to time, he will add rhythms to some tracks (from a temperamental beat box) or persuade talented local "divas" to add female backing vocals to parts of his set. His latest album "Su casa, mi casa", an album of live cuts recorded over several years, was warmly received in all quarters from Uncut magazine to satirical web site, The Onion. Support comes from Maddo Painting.
