Welcome back, Fitch

Making his second appearance after missing three games, Gerald Fitch led the Wildcats to their 19th victory against the Auburn Tigers, scoring 18 points and grabbing 6 rebounds. Erik Daniels had another solid game, scoring 15 on 5 of 9 shooting. Although he didn't start, Fitch played 28 pain-filled minutes, as his injured finger continued to bother him. Shaking off the discomfort, Gerald relentlessly drove to the basket early on, keeping the Cats in the game with his free throws, as the team didn't hit a field goal in the first 7:40 of the first half.

Despite the slow start, Kentucky managed to grab the lead with two minutes left in the half. But a three-pointer by Auburn's Ian Young enabled his team to take a 34-33 advantage into the locker-room. In the second half, Kentucky found itself trailing early on by five, but battled back to take the lead with 15 minutes to go. They were never able to pull away from Auburn, as their largest lead was six until the final two minutes, when they managed to finally put the Tigers away.

Kentucky's bench play was effective, once more, with Ravi Moss and Bobby Perry each scoring 4 points, and Sheray Thomas adding 3 in 15 minutes of action. Once again, however, the key factor for the Cats was their defense, as they held Auburn to 34% shooting, including just 27% and 1-11 three-point shooting in the second half.
