Kentucky Defeats Tennessee Tech as Fitch Pours in 36

Gerald Fitch scored a career high 36 points as all five Kentucky starters reached double figures. After struggling with his shot in the previous game (2-8), Fitch got himself back on track with a couple easy layups for the game's first four points. His confidence regained and his shooter's mentality restored, Gerald kept firing away, making 14 of 20 shots from the field, including 5 of 11 from beyond the arc.

The starters did not get much help from the bench, as only Antwain Barbour and Brandon Stockton logged more than seven minutes. Tubby gave the second team a chance in the first half, but the players really did not respond. In the second half, Tubby rarely substituted, except to give a starter a brief breather. Shagari Alleyne has apparently found himself in Tubby's doghouse, as he saw no action until ultra-mopup time in the closing minute. Meanwhile, the other 7-footer, Lukasz Obrzut, played only five minutes and didn't get a single point, rebound, or blocked shot. Box Score
