Cats shoot just 27% but get the WThis year's edition of the Wooden Classic was anything but "classic" as Kenucky defeated UCLA 52-50. Combined, the Wildcats and Bruins, two of the most storied basketball programs in America, made just 33 of 109 field goal attempts. In a game that saw the Wildcats fail to put away UCLA when they had the chance, Kentucky shot 27%, while UCLA shot the lights out at a 34% clip. Eric Daniels led the Cats with 14 points on 6 of 14 shooting. He and Kelenna Azubuike (3 of 6) were the only two Wildcats whose shooting could not be described as horrible, terrible, abyssmal, offensive, ugly, or any number of other negative adjectives. Both players, however, saw their minutes limited by foul trouble. Meanwhile, the other three starters played nearly the entire game: Hawkins - 34 minutes, Hayes - 37 minutes, and Fitch - 38 minutes. All three however, struggled mightily from the field, shooting a combined 6 of 31 from the field.
