Good to be Back Home

After nearly a month on the road, the Kentucky Wildcats returned to the friendly confines of Rupp Arena Tuesday night to take on the Colonels of Eastern Kentucky. Continuing their hot shooting (64%), the Cats won this one going away, 101-72. As an early Christmas present, the Kentucky reserves saw plenty of action, with all 16 players seeing court-time and 12 of them putting points on the board. The "Twin Towers", freshmen Lukasz Obrzut and Shagari Alleyne, had their most productive game, collectively scoring 12 points.

After scoring just six points and taking only 6 shots against Indiana, Gerald Fitch regained his shooter's mentality, scoring 26 on 10 of 16 shooting. He wasn't selfish, however, as he also dished out six assists. Cliff Hawkins continued his excellent play, making all seven shot attempts for 16 points to go along with 6 assists. Erik Daniels pitched in 15 points and also dished out 6 assists and grabbed a team-high 7 rebounds. Kelenna Azubuike was efficient as always making all three of his three-point attempts and scoring 13.

Notes:

  • Kentucky has now won 27 straight regular-season games. Their last regular-season loss came against Louisville, their next opponent.
  • All six of Shagari Alleyne's points came off of dunks.
  • Kelenna Azubuike has connected on 12 of 16 from beyond the arc this season.
