What are tutors and teacher assistants?
Tutors
and teacher assistants are available for students needing academic
support. Tutors facilitate small study groups at the Academic Services Centre.
Tutors review course content, help fellow students with test preparation, and
promote good study skills.
A tutor must be willing to set aside at least four hours per day to
tutor. There is flexibility in scheduling these sessions. It is important that
the times work out well for the tutor as well as for interested students. A
short training session is conducted which counts toward your tutoring hours.
Study group times and locations are posted in the ASC hallway. Instructors are
also notified that a study group has been established so that others in class
can attend.
Teacher assistants
help a local teacher during classes’ time. On occasion, assistants serve as
mentors or study partners for students in need.
