UK Trip 2005

Postcards posted, feet holding up well. Walked back across town to the North Laine area again, and found Vegetarian Shoes open. Very nice shop again, very nice help again. The luxury of being able to buy some new black shoes from them without adding £16 postage to the bill! A few doors down, an inordinately helpful person with a fair touch of Liz Hurley tried very hard for several minutes to get me to part with serious money for some Puma shades, and I nearly gave in. Over to Jump The Gun again to have another look at the Harringtons and bought a nice burgundy one. XXL is my salvation. It's going to be okay. Had a near-disastrous attempt at lunch courtesy of a very different shift at RedVeg (nearly overcharged by almost 100% and then waiting twenty minutes for a burger and chips..."Real Fast Food", hah!), proving that you can make trouble for yourself trying to repeat the good times, hello F Scott Fitzgerald. Following the advice of the Liz Hurley one I went to the Infinity Cafe for some great coffee and then next door to the Komedia/Curve Cafe for brief internet access. Everyone is so friendly here. Being joint and solo cashier and tech support at an internet cafe can't be all that exciting, but the guy in Curve was amazingly engaging. You won't see him working anywhere similar in London soon, he's over-qualified in all ways. Very sorry indeed to have to leave Gardner Street and its neat collection of folk behind. Back across town, back, back...past the Creation club, down to the seafront again where the bands have started for a Friday night, a few more snaps of the dead structure formerly known as West Pier, and to the hotel.
