Enclosures
The minimum size for an enclosure "in my opinion" is 2ft x 4ft. As with any pet the more room the better. I like to keep my Quail on the floor of my aviarys, this gives interest on all levels and any spilt seed will be cleaned up by the Quail.

When building a small cage be sure to install some soft roofing material. Quail have a habbit of flying straight up when startled causing them to bang their heads on the roof damaging feathers. They can become bald over time if this is not put right.

It may help if you clip one of their wings which will impead their ability to fly.

I have read that a single Quail may be kept on the floor of a Canary
cage, but I would not recommend this.
