The Ukrainian National Women’s League Branch 64 presents a program featuring a lecture by Prof. George Gajecky who will talk about Kyivan princesses in eleventh-century Western Europe. The lecture will include a slide presentation.

64-ий відділ Союзу Українок Америки запрошує на програму присвячену традиційним весняним звичаям під назвою «Вітай, Весно!»: ЛІДІЯ БАБ’ЮК — Марійська поезія; поетеса ВАЛЕНТИНА ВОЙЦЕХІВСЬКА — «Весняні поезії»; ЯРОСЛАВА ҐЕРУЛЯК — «Розповідь про Русалії»; ЛАВРЕНТІЯ ТУРКЕВИЧ — русальні пісні при супроводі бандури.

UNWLA Branch 64 presents an event dedicated to traditional Ukrainian spring customs, featuring Lidia Babiuk (Marian poetry reading); poetess Valentyna Voytsekhivska (“Spring Poems”); Jaroslawa Gerulak (“About the Rusalia”); and Lavrentia Turkewicz (Rusalia songs with bandura accompaniment).

“MEET THE ARTIST”

BOHDAN SOROKA ART EXHIBIT

April 20, 2007 thru April 22
64-ий Відділ СУА в Нью Йорку і Пластовий Курінь “Верховинки” запрошують на відкриття мистецької виставки Богдана Сороки — відомого мистця зі Львова. Вступне слово виголосить Ярослава Ґеруляк. У неділю о 2-ій годині відбудеться зустріч з мистцем, під час якої він розповість про свій мистецький шлях. Виставка буде ілюстрована музикою композитора Володимира Ткаченка у власному виконанні на фортеп’яні.

Ця виставка присвячена світлій пам’яті покійної Ніни Самокіш, голови 64-го відділу СУА та курінної Пластового Куреня “Верховинки”.

In memory of the late Nina Samokish, the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America Branch 64 and the “Verkhovynky” Plast Sorority, New York branch, invite the public to an exhibition of graphics and paintings by Bohdan Soroka from Lviv. At the opening, Jaroslawa Gerulak will introduce the audience to Mr. Soroka’s art. The exhibit will close on Sunday at 2 pm with a “Meet the Artist” event, featuring Mr. Soroka who will discuss his artistic life's path. During the exhibit, composer Volodymyr Tkachenko will perform original piano music inspired by the artwork.

Opening: Friday at 7 pm
Closing program: Sunday at 2 pm

JULIANA STAROSOLSKA-LIUBOVYCH 95th ANNIVERSARY:

A LITERARY CELEBRATION

Літературно-Мистецький Клюб та 64-ий відділ Союзу Українок Америки запрошують на літературний вечір з нагоди 95-ліття від дня народження письменниці, журналістки та довголітнього редактора журналу «Наше Життя», Уляни Старосольської-Любович. У програмі — «Слово про Уляну Старосольську-Любович» виголосить бувший редактор «Свободи» Ольга Кузьмович. Вибрані твори прочитають актор Ляриса Кукрицька і членки відділу. Вечір завершиться привітаннями та побажаннями.

The Ukrainian Art & Literary Club, in conjunction with UNWLA Branch 64, invites the public to a literary evening celebrating the 95th anniversary of Juliana Starosolska-Liubovych, author, journalist and former editor of “Our Life” magazine. The program will include an introduction by Olha Kuzmovych, former editor of Svoboda, readings by actress Larysa Kukrytska and Branch 64 members, as well as celebratory greetings.

VASYL NECHEPA: HISTORY OF THE ANCIENT STATE OF UKRAINE IN SONGS

Відзначаючи столітню річницю від часу створення концертної бандури, Православна Церква св. Володимира, Літературно-мистецький Клюб та Школа кобзарського мистецтва запрошують на лекцію-концерт під назвою «Історія прадавньої України-Держави у її піснях». Виконавець — чернігівський кобзар-лірник Василь Нечепа, лавреат Шевченківської премії, визнаний Кращим Учителем Року України (2006) Міністерством Освіти та Науки України.

As this year marks the centennial of the creation of the concert bandura, the St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the Ukrainian Art & Literary Club and the New York Bandura Ensemble invite the public to a lecture-concert titled ”History of the Ancient State of Ukraine in Songs.” The featured performer is kobzar-lirnyk Vasyl Nechepa from Chernihiv, a 2006 laureate of the Taras Shevchenko Prize, nominated Best Teacher of the Year of Ukraine (2006) by the Ministry of Education and Scholarship of Ukraine.
