It's a Wonderful World

Welcome to WokJai's Wonderful World (WWW). It used to be called the "World of WokJai". This website originally started in 1997 when I knew very little about HTML. I remember the first bit of HTML I wrote. It was a simple hyperlink, but it got me hooked. I became interested, dare I say, addicted to writing webpages. The ability to present information which looked good easily and quickly was what attracted me at first. Later, it was the fact that in my own website, what I want goes gave me a sense of freedom, of being able to write the things I've always wanted to write about. Now, I continue to update and improve on this site, adding content and new bits and pieces to it, partly to keep what I know of HTML and JavaScript and improve on those skills, and partly because friends have been looking forward to more content from my site.

News

21 March 2004
This website and its second generation incarnation, WokJai G2: WoksBox, are no longer being updated. Instead, the latest incarnation of my website is WokJai G3: The Third Dimension. Go there instead for the latest.

4 June 2003
Minor but important updates to the code that builds the page shell. It does gaps now while allowing the menu to sit flush to the window edge. Don't know why I didn't think of this before! Also removed the "QuickHacks" section as I no longer have the time to maintain it.

28 May 2003
This is how I've usually been, except the feeling was a lot stronger tonight.

Issue 1 of my fictional comic "Loner" is finally complete. To see it, click here.

5 May 2002 - Recode
There has been small, but sigficant changes to the JavaScript code used to build the navigation bar. Theoretically, it is now possible to have an infinite number of sub-sections (or until your computer dies).

There have also been some new articles, issue one of a comic, and a new drawing - titled "Winter of the Heart" (currently my favourite drawing). The artwork isn't great, so please be patient as I improve my skills over these weeks (hopefully). Many thanks.

20 Mar 2002 - WebSkins!
The website now has a 'WebSkins' option where you can select the stylesheet you want to use from the drop down box on each page (except for the index page). The 'WebSkin' is applied throughout the site.

26 Jan 2002 - After an initial scare I confirmed that my code was good. Don't know why it wasn't working before. I should be proud of my own achievements. Alas, another hollow victory, and all that.
Why? The answer.

22 Jan 2002 - After working till late (or early, depending on your perspectve on time) these past nights, the website finally has a solid and fulfilling structure.
The code modified for use with this site has surpassed that of LingShuiWeb in terms of quality and capability.
For now please understand due to the fact that I am human (and therefore need to sleep), the content presented so far is still mostly old. I will make updates and additions accordingly when I have enough rest. Thanks for your patience.

19 Jan 2002 - Due to the expanding sections and sub-sections of this website, I thought it best to restructure the current one such that similar sections such as 'Faith','Articles' and 'Stories' are now grouped under the one section 'Writings'. The old sections have become the new sub-sections as a result. It is my hopes that you find navigation around my site easier from now on.

1 Jan 2002 - Happy New Year! I redid the coding of this site using code I already wrote for LingShuiWeb. Once I buy a digital camera the Lego section will hopefully be only a few weeks away. In the meantime, I will continue to improve the existing code used to do popup boxes, and add a section which talks about the trip to Hong Kong I just had (i.e. HK Trip II). Also on the drawing board is a feedback form, but this will have a lower priority than the other "projects".

2 Oct 2001 - This site has the frames element taken out of it. The reason for this is, I will be adding new sections to the site, and the top frame will always be there. That is fine, unless my new sections will use totally different styles, which is what I have in mind. As to what those sections are, one will contain all the scans of pictures I drew as a kid and even as a high school student, another section will be dedicated to my Lego collection and finally, last but not least, one section will contain work on my novel.

Sometime in 1999 - Ugh, where was I again?

Sometime in 1998 - Fourth edition of "World of WokJai". Better navigation (through the use of frames), image preloads and swap overs, more content, started "WokJai's Starcraft Stuff" section (since removed).

Sometime in 1997 - First edition of "World of WokJai". Had basic structure, navigation and limited content.
