KINALLEN FLUTE BAND. 29/05/04. FLUTERS: 12. DRUMMERS: 6. BASS DRUMMERS: 2. CYMBALS: 2. COLOUR PARTY: 4. DRUM MAJOR: 3. TROPHIES: 0. |
The band attended their 9th parade of the season in Dromore Co Down, the host band was Kinallen f.b. This is normally one of the best parades of the year due to its tight streets and excellent crowds in the square. But this year the parade had so many hold ups and cars amongst the the parade it took us nearly two hours to complete the full route. |
There seemed to be a lot of bands doing a u-turn and not parading the full parade route, im not sure if these bands where judged or not? Normally any band who does not do the full parade dont get judged. We felt the band played quite well on the night, with 12 fluters on parade playing and producing volume well above the numbers on show. |
The highlight of the night was at the end in the square were we got a superb reception. Our big bass drummer was excellent at the finish and proved he is certainley one of the best around. The Grens drum major, Wee John was outstanding at the finish aswell and the crowd around showed thier appreciation with their clapping and cheering. Other bands which impressed me on the night were Clogher, Drumderg, Goldsprings and Mourne. It was the best i have heard Clogher in a good while and when they are on form they are one of the best B&T bands in the country, I thought Clogher deserved 1st B&T. Drumderg were in front of us and sounded very well, very impressive marching and discipline. Goldsprings are a superb B&T band who play with a lot of heart, the way it should be played, They have two excellent bass drummers who really give it their all. On the small B&T section Charles Watson Memorial won it and i would like to say well done to them as they are an excellent band. Report by the Mossley Cowboy. |
