This is one of the parades we like to do as it is in our home town. The band acompanied LOL 553 Bennets Chosen Few on the night it was a good night with the sun shining down apon us just the perfect night for paradeing in. Around 6 or 7 bands took part in the Mini 12th, with most of the local bands taking part and Steeple Defenders who where behind us, which was good to see them in Carrickfergus, they have been in Carrick quite a few times this year so far. The parade started at the Albert Road Orange Hall and made its way down through the narrow streets of the town to the cenotapth were wreaths were laid by the Orange Order in memory of those brave men of the 36th Ulster Division, who lost their lives at the Battle of the Somme. After the wreaths were laid the band played the national anthem before the parade set off again through the town and made its way up into the housing estates were people came out to watch the bands and the Orange Men and Women parade through the streets. |
The band played exceptionally well on this night as 9 times out of 10 we usually do in Carrickfergus. The Colour Party are faultless there is not a thing we as a band can complain about {but we are still looking lol} their marching and dicsipline is second to none. The drum corp hadn't been playing the best in previous parades but tonight you would have thought they had benn replaced by a whole new drum corp they were as good as can be expected so well done to them. The flute corp were very good with the new tunes comming on very well. All in all this was a very good parade and we look forward to it next year and it was great to be leading Carrickfergus District No 19 through our home town. |
