Personality: Kalaya appears to be a ruthless and determined woman, lashing out at the world because of the wrongs done to her in the past.  She's actually quite nice and caring to those she trusts.  She becomes slightly tempermental at times when she feels she's close to the Serelis, but she also thinks her clearest and thoroughly proves her leadership skills.  Kalaya's quiet the majority of the time and keeps her emotions welled up inside, causing to breakdowns on occasions.
History: Kalaya was born to her parents in a small village 20 years after the creation of the Shukun.  Where she lived, the young girl was able to be raised in peaceful conditions, until when she was 8 years of age.  A battle had broken out, and the Guntai had fled for shelter to her home, the Shukun following close behind.  A second battle broke out in the village, and the entire village was utterly destroyed.  The Guntai had won the battle, forcing the Shukun to retreat, but the only survivors of the village were the children.  The Guntai, sorry for what had happened, took the children back with them to their headquarters and homes.
At first, Kalaya was distant, but slowly, she began to live a normal life again with the Guntai, though she still deeply missed her parents.  She now lived with a high-ranking officer of the Guntai, Staven, who was now her new father figure.  He taught her everything he knew about summoning, helping her become an expert on the guardian spirits along with her special ability.
Unfortunately, her happiness was short, when Staven died in battle when she was 11.  The Guntai headquarters and school were raided by both the Shukun, gangs, and rebels in the area.  Kalaya's emotions were bashed once more when her home with her "father" was raided by a gang.  She was attacked by them, raped repeatedly until she was nearly dead on the floor.  Kalaya was left lying there; left to die.
Two hours passed, when a young woman came in the destroyed home and found the dying girl.  She picked Kalaya up and took her to her home, nursing her back to life like a mother.  During this time, Kalaya discovered this woman, Vianashe, was the Shukun leader.  As much as she hated this woman, Vianashe was a mother to her, and her loyalties were soon formed.
