Game Summary

The Ultimate Sports Grillers finally played a game again on Sunday afternoon after two more consecutive rainouts as they defeated the Cold Spring Springers 11-1 at Joe Faber Field.

On the mound, Chad Schwegel pitched six solid innings, scattering six hits, walking one, and striking out four.  He also allowed his first earned run of the season in 19 innings while improving to 3-0.  Offensively, Andy Waletzko went 3-for-4 with a double, run scored, and an RBI to lead the way.  Mike Holman finished 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored, and two RBIs, Ryan Quinn went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, and Brent Schloe added a double and three RBIs.  In all, the Grillers pounded out 13 hits in the game and played solid defense on their way to just their fourth win over the Springers in the last nine seasons.

Ultimate got on the board first in the bottom of the third inning when Holman doubled to score Quinn and Brent Putz.  The Grillers added another run in the fourth on Andy Waletzko's double that scored Jason Kotschevar.  In the fifth, Schloe grounded out to score Holman, Aaron Rocheleau singled home Casey Haugen, and Quinn singled to score Rocheleau and put the Grillers up 6-0.  Cold Spring got on the board in the top of the sixth after a miscommunication in right center field allowed a fly ball to drop and plate their only run.  Ultimate responded in the bottom of the sixth with two more runs on a double by Schloe that scored Holman and Haugen.  In the bottom of the seventh, the Grillers scored three more times, one on a bases-loaded walk by Haugen to score Waletzko and two on a pinch-hit double by Jason Polikowsky to score Quinn and pinch-hitter Lincoln Haugen.  The game was ended after that hit due to the 10-run rule.
