With
roughly half the UHL season behind us, it's time to look back and
reflect on what has been the most balanced year of UHL play in the
three year history of the league. Through 17 games, the league leading
Redhawks and Hornets have 24 points. There are nine UHL teams with
20 or more points and a total of 17 UHL teams with 15 or more points.
So needless to say, this is still anyone's race. In prior UHL seasons,
there were always just a handful of teams that have walked away
with the league's regular season title and the Presidents trophy.
There are still UHL teams that are destined to finish well below
teams like the Redhawks and Hornets, but even for these teams there
is hope. Many UHL teams who were 'bottom feeders' last season, are
at the head of the class this season. If those teams follow the
lead of the bottom feeders before them, they too could be in contention
next season. The UHL is a league in which a team that finished poorly
one year, can be a cup contender the next. We expect to see a tough
battle for 1st place for the rest of the year.
