Rapper Curtis Jackson has officially hit the big time. From making the rounds on numerous NY mixtapes & getting his major label debut album "Power Of The Dollar" squashed before hitting the shelves after being shot 9 times, 50 Cent has come full circle. Now signed to Shady/Aftermath Records, the Jamaica, Queens native has the hottest album in the country smashing sales records in the process. The follow-up to "Guess Who's Back" features Eminem, Tony Yayo & Lloyd Banks of G-Unit, Young Buck, Nate Dogg, & smash hit "In Da Club".
1. Intro
2. What Up Gangsta?-- this track has bass poundin beats while 50 Cent lays down his lazy flows over a couple of verses. It's a decent track to start the album off with.
3. Patiently Waiting (f/ Eminem)-- this track starts off with 50 telling Eminem that he's his favorite white boy. Eminem drops some nice flows over beats that have that familiar Em sound to it. 50 Cent raps about how he's been waiting to blow up in this rap game and now he can buy whatever the hell he pleases. Nice track.
4. Many Men (Wish Death)-- this track has a laid back beat that you can sit back and bob ya head to. 50 Cent sings the hook many men, many men wish death upon me... while flowing his ass off bout that night he got shot. This is probably one of my favorite tracks on the album.
5. In Da Club-- unless you've been living in a cave for the last 3 months, you've no doubt heard the Dr. Dre produced club bangin single. The catchy hook and hypnotizing beats stick in your head no matter how hard you try to forget them. Guess that's what a hit song will do for you.
6. High All The Time-- another track with some laid back beats that go perfectly with the lyrics bout gettin high with some good shit. Not to be overlooked is 50 takin a shot at Nas & Jay-Z sayin he's ready to challenge for their throne. Pretty nice track with some tight beats.
7. Heat-- the west coast beats on this one just scream Dr. Dre. 50 Cent doesn't come as tight on this one. I don't know if it's the beats or the flows but I'm not really feelin this one.
8. If I Can't-- Dr. Dre brings the piano laced beats on this one while 50 drops verses about how he's gonna make it no matter what. It's an all right track.
9. Blood Hound (f/ Young Buck)-- this track has an synthesizer/electronic sound to it. Both 50 Cent & Young Buck of the UTP drop some nice verses that have a Southern vibe to it. It's a track worth checkin out.
10. Back Down-- this track has a straight up gangster sound to it on a murderin tip. 50 Cent takes time out to diss up on the whole Murder Inc. crew of Ja Rule, Ashanti, & Irv Gotti. Everything from the beats to the flows are tight as fuck. The gay guy talking bout Ja Rule at the end of the track had me rollin out laughing. Definitely worth checkin out.
11. P.I.M.P.-- this track has more of a happy-go-lucky upbeat sound to it while 50 raps and sings his way through the track. Not really too impressed with this track.
12. Like My Style (f/ Tony Yayo)-- Rockwilder takes time out to lay down some beats for 50 who comes with some decent verses but Tony Yayo didn't really drop anything standout in my opinion. Just an average track to me.
13. Poor Lil Rich-- this track has a little bit of a rock sound mixed with an electronic sound. 50 Cent raps about jewelry, cars, etc. It doesn't really feel like it fits well with the overall scheme of the album. Not feelin this one.
14. 21 Questions (f/ Nate Dogg)-- this track has those funky blues guitar sound while 50 drops bars asking his girl if she would still love him if he was down while Nate Dogg croons in his signature style on the hook. There is no doubt in my mind that this is going to be a radio single. It's a decent track but maybe a little too cheesy for me.
15. Don't Push Me (f/ Eminem & Lloyd Banks)-- there isn't really anything spectacular with Eminem's beats on this one. Lloyd Banks of the G-Unit lays down a nice verse while Eminem once again come through with a solid verse.
16. Gotta Make It To Heaven-- 50 Cent raps about life experiences on this one. Lyrically, it's a decent track but the beats on this one are totally off the wall and don't seem to go well with the verses.
17. Wanksta (bonus)-- the single from the 8Mile Soundtrack was included as a bonus track for all those who didn't line up to purchase it the first time. I'm sure you all have heard this one so I won't comment about it.
18. U Not Like Me (bonus)-- this track has a nice laid back beat to it. 50 Cent spits rhymes to all the haters out there bout how he could kill em if they are snitches. Pretty nice track that was originally included on "Guess Who's Back".
19. Life's On The Line-- yet another song from the "Guess Who's Back" album in which 50 has some decent flows but doesn't seem quite as polished with his verses as he does now. Still a bumpable track.
Overall, the beats on the album are decent with some standout tracks on the album. I thought the album did a nice job of incoporating different styles from the East to the West and even some Southern bounce for those in the dirty. The album may disappoint some who are looking for that gritty style from his mix tapes but overall, Eminem & Dr. Dre put together a package that was intent on introducing 50 Cent to the world. He is the next big star in the rap game and the sales prove it.
