As we all know, DJ Screw is the most famous, and popular DJ to slow down
music. With his latest release "As the World Turns Slow," he shows why he
is the most popular. After his unfortunate death in 2000, Screw has had a
few new albums. These include "All Work, No Play Pt. 2," "The Legend," and
"Sentimental Value," and the latest release "As the World Turns Slow."
Track 1 is an intro with DJ Screw talking about people putting the south on
the map. He talks about people who put the south on the map, and most
importantly that he started the screwed style of music.
The next track is "Ballin" by ESG. Screw starts out in his traditional
fashion. He plays the first sentence of the song three times. This song
has a little bit of a west coast feel to it. This song has a traditional
title. ESG tells all about how he balls. Screw really shows his skills on
this song. He shows his mixing skills on this as ESG says ,"I?m nothin? but
a balla."
Track 3 is "Grabbin? Grain" by the Guerilla Maab. This song is even slow
for a screwed song. It?s a song to just listen to while you are chillin.
The song is very tight. I really like the way that Screw mixes up this
song. He chops in all of the right parts.
Everyone who listens to Texas rap at all has heard of this next song. It is
the hit by Fat Pat (RIP) "Tops Drop." This song is very tight. It starts
off with a interview with a short "interview" with Fat Pat. As soon as that
is over, Screw starts doing his thing. He goes off on this song. This is
one the best songs on the whole CD. If you like the regular version of this
song, then you will definitely love this one.
Next up, is "Ride Wit A Playa" by Grace and Angelic. This is an okay song,
but it isn?t my favorite. It?s definitely worth a listen though. It?s a
slower paced song.
Track 6 is performed by ESG and Pimptyte. It is titled "Thuggin." This
song is also very tight. There isn?t too much chopping on this song. It?s
mainly just slowed down. This song sounds tight how it is though. ESG
really shows his skills on this song.
Next up, is "H-Town." This song is performed by: Big Moe, Botany Boys,
D.E.A., and Lil Keke. This song is probably the best song on the CD. It
tells how they do it in H-Town. Big Moe sings the hook. This song shows
Screw?s skills once again. He does some tight scratching in this one.
"Mind at Ease" is next. This track is by AL-D, Lil Keke, Shorty Mac, and
A.C.T. The beat on this song is very tight. I feel like I keep repeating
myself, but Screw once again flexes his skills on this one. Lil Keke?s
verse is very tight. This song overall is just blazin. This song talks a
lot about smokin? Killa.
"City of Syrup" comes up next. This song is by Big Moe. I love this song.
The hook talks about that all Big Moe wants to do is Bang his Screw. This
song features Z-Ro and Tyte Eyes. I really like the beat to this song. I
don?t know how to describe it though. It?s got a high-pitched sound to it.
It fits this song perfectly. Screw starts it out with him introducing
everyone on the track.
"Playaz, Pimps, Superstarz" is next by D.E.A. It features Lil Keke as
well. He starts out the track with his verse. Another slow paced song even
for a screwed track. This song is very laid-back. This song should be
listened to while you are blown or just relaxin?.
The last song on the album, is "If the World Was.." This song is by Point
Blank, Big H.A.W.K., Klondike Kat, and Lil Keke. They ended the album with
another tight track. The hook talks about if the world was a Swisha. You
can tell, that this song is good to listen to while you are blown. "If the
world was a Swisha, I promise I would get so high."
I think that everyone should pick this album up. This whole album really
shows DJ Screw?s skills on the tables. I think they picked a good mix of
songs to put on this album. The only complaint I have about this is the
number of songs. I think that this would be better if they would?ve just
put up a few more tracks. Even though it didn?t have many songs though, I
am still giving this one a 4/5 star rating.
