Memphis & New Orleans rap come together when DJ Paul & Juicy J of Three 6 Mafia and Fiend team up to form the new group Da Headbussaz. The new album on Hyptonize Minds features the entire HCP camp with the exception of Lord Infamous and Project Pat.
1. It's Bought To Happen To 'M-- intro skit
2. Where They Hang-- this track has a decent lil beat. Juicy J raps first but he drops a weak verse (although he comes with a better second verse later on). DJ Paul doesn't do much better with his verses although he continues his verbal assault on ex-HCP members. Fiend drops the best verse of the song. The hook is kinda weak so overall, I'm not feelin this track.
3. U See We Poe-- this track is one of the best on the album. Tight beats that is classic DJ Paul & Juicy J production complete with the lil chanting in the background that they like so much. The hook is a sample of Project Pat's verse from "North North Pt 2" from Juicy J's album. Fiend, DJ Paul, & Juicy J all come tight as fuck on this one while Crunchy Blac lays down a short verse. Definitely check this track out cause it's one of the better HCP tracks out now.
4. Headbussaz-- this title track has that old Three 6 Mafia feel with the beat. It's kinda got that dark tone to it. Juicy J is up first and lays down a decent verse. DJ Paul is up next and he drops a tight verse. Fiend carries the track out with a pretty nice verse as well. Tight song all the way through.
5. How To Get Rid Of A Dead Body-- skit
6. That's How It Happen To 'M-- this track has a decent mid tempo beat to it. Fiend starts it off with his classic gruffy, rough style of rhymin complete with some "whomps" thrown in there for good measure. Fiend sings the hook and it gets kinda annoying after a while. DJ Paul lays down a nice hook braggin about how he hasn't changed even though he's got more cars and money now. Juicy J lays down a hard verse about those fake ass niggas out there not wanting to step to him. Tight verses, tight beats, annoying hook.
7. Powder Cake-- this track seemed like something that Project Pat would put on his album. The hook is corny and goes "powder cake/powder cake/baker's man/cook me some dope as fast as you can". Frayser Boy & LaChat drops verses on this one. I'll skip through this one cause I'm not really feelin anything about this song.
8. Get The Fuck Out My Face-- this is the first single from the album. It has a tight little beat and samples the intro to "Gone In 60 Seconds". All three of Da Headbussaz drop nice verses with Fiend standing out the most to me. If you live in the Memphis area, you're probably borderline sick of this song playing on the radio but it's still one of the best tracks on the album.
9. Smoke If U Got It-- this track has a real laid back beat that is just made to sit back and smoke to. Paul, Juice, & Fiend all rap really slow and the song as you can figure out by the title is about smoking weed. It's a decent track and definitely a change of pace from what we usually get from Three 6 Mafia.
10. Hands On Ya-- this track was the only one produced by Fiend and you'll definitely notice the New Orleans feel to the beat. This one is bumpable but it's not one of the top tracks on the album.
11. Ruffest Niggaz Out-- this track has that mafia/gangster type beat going for it and Fiend lays down a nice verse as well as doing the hook. Juicy J lays down a mediocre verse while DJ Paul drops a nice verse. Bumpable track.
12. Crap Table-- skit
13. Crown Me-- this track has a simple beat that doesn't sound too different from LaChat's "You Ain't Mad Iz Ya". Juicy J lays down a decent verse. Ain't really feelin Fiend's verse however. Not that tight of a track.
14. Gone Be Sum Shit-- this track is basically a tribute and a shoutout to all the different cities out there from the Bay Area to ATL to Memphis. Juicy J drops a weak verse in my opinion. Overall, the track is one that probably won't be getting much replay.
15. U See We Poe (screwed)-- nice little screwed and chopped action of the best song on the album.
16. Hypnotize Minds & Fiend Ent.-- your basic album promotion by DJ Paul & Juicy J but this time, they include some of Fiend's upcoming releases as well.
Overall, Three 6 Mafia fans will not be dissapointed with this album if you usually like what DJ Paul & Juicy J have been coming out with lately. Fiend fits in rather nicely with DJ Paul and Juicy J on most of the tracks even though this isn't the first time they've hooked up (Fiend was on "When The Smoke Clears" & Paul/Juice were on a track w/ Fiend on Mr. Serv-On's album). I thought Juicy J was the weakest rapper on the album. DJ Paul and Fiend came pretty tight for the most part. Another downfall is that there are too many skits for a short album. But I liked how they didn't clutter the tracks with too many guest spots from the HCP members and kept it basically a Headbussaz album. Other than that it's a bumpin album so pick it up if you are a Three 6 Mafia fan cause you'll like it.
