Undaground Sam is one of Memphis's up-and-coming rappers and he drops his 14 track solo debut on M.O.T.T. Entertainment. The album was produced by local producer Redzone.
1. Skit 1-- just a skit with UG Sam and his partner breakin into a car
2. Leave Me Alone-- this track has a tight lil beat similar to a dark, stormy night which sets the mood for the track. UG Sam drops some tight flows and raps about all those who tried to take him out of the game. Kenneth Hudson lays down some background vocals on this one. Definitely a banger to start the album off with.
3. Front-N-Back-- this track has more of an uptempo beat is basically your up-in-the-club, booty shake type track. Not really feelin this one.
4. Back 2 Da Hood-- this track has a more mid-tempo beat that kinda has that space age pimpish feel that we'd expect from 8Ball & MJG. UG Sam lays down some verses about the haters while reppin for Westwood. Bumpable track worth checkin out.
5. Fill My Cup-- this track starts off with a tight lil piano intro before the bassline kicks in. UG Sam drops some tight flows about how music industry treats its artists over this laid back track. Has to be one of my favorite tracks on the album. There's nothing I don't like about this one.
6. Father's Day-- this track has a slow, laid back beat that you'd almost expect from a country or a pop music artist. UG Sam is droppin heartfelt flows dedicated to his father. Another nice song that'll have ya reminiscing about your loved ones.
7. Yippi I Aye Part 2-- this track has a slightly faster tempo/beat than the previous couple of tracks. The hook reminds me a country hick at a rodeo. This is a decent track but I thought the hook was kinda annoying.
8. Skit II-- skit at a barbershop with some Alicia Keys playing in the background
9. I Like The Way-- UG Sam raps about how he likes how his woman speaks her mind and it's not just the girl's body that he's interested in. Moe Moe sings the hook on this one.
10. My Season-- this track has a laid back mid tempo beat. UG Sam raps about how he's paid his dues and gonna travel around the globe and meet some hoes. Basically lettin us all know that he's on his way to the big time. Tight lil track.
11. Do It My Way-- this track has a more up tempo beat and is basically an ode to the ladies up in the club. Not a bad little track. It's worth checkin out.
12. My Homies-- this track has a tight lil laid back beat UG Sam raps about all his true homies and all the stuff they like to do like smoke weed and just chill. Bumpin track but I thought UG Sam could have come with some tighter flows.
13. With U Or Not-- this track has that classic Memphis underground feel. The track was produced by DJ Scar. UG Sam raps about how he's gonna make it no matter what. One of the better tracks on the album.
14. Outro-- just some shout outs
Overall, I thought this album was pretty good. It's definitely got more content than most of the albums droppin outta Memphis these days. UG Sam also brings a little different style than what we usually think of as the stereotypical Memphis sound. The production was needed some work on some of the tracks but there are some very nice songs on here as well. Don't sleep on this one because I guarantee you'll be hearing from UG Sam in the future.
