Bow is
Etheria's master Archer, which the name sort of implies. Kyle, from an early episode [09],
describes him as "the best shot in all Etheria!" and
rightly so, judging by the accuracy he showed
throughout the series.
Originally,
Bow was simply the Archer who fired regular arrows [02, 05, 08, 09, 10], but as the
series progressed, nifty newly invented arrows were introduced [14, 15, 17] and later more
comedic, and frankly stupider, weapons would be used by the rebel.
[27, 82] At times, Bow would
state that his arrows would be made for him [01, 41, 49], so this interpretation is
what we are left to
assume happened whenever he reached for 'that sticky glue arrow'
or the like. The regular arrows
would occasionally return to help out [24, 37, 78] but as soon as the more hi-tech
implements were
introduced, these were generally shunned by Filmation. And like
Adora would keep her sword
on her back, Bow would store his in a similar place. This,
however, was strangely revealed only
on a couple of occasions. [88, 89]
Bow's
shooting talent wasn't his only skill however - although his next
ability left a lot to be desired.
Bow is also a musician, as one early episode [09] touched upon and a short while
later this would
get its first airing. [19] Adora seemed to like his music,
but others weren't too keen - especially
Kowl, as he would hastily add. [24, 37] His specialist instrument was
the Harp and would sing
along as he plucked its strings.

Bow was portrayed as an illusionist on several occasions too -
making a bird appear from
nowhere [09], disappearing from sight [28] and making a pack of cards
vanish [38] were all
all seemingly part of his stage act. To add to Bow's position in
the Rebellion as a warrior and his
musical and magical 'talents', our main male hero was also seen
in a couple of instances as
a storyteller, revealing legends of old [23] or simply for light
entertainment. [74]
Bow was
one of the original Rebels and seems to be one of those who are
on the Horde's most-
wanted list, as he would often have to disguise himself if
leaving the Whispering Woods, in case
the Horde spotted him. [01, 26, 28] The only other Rebels who had
to do this are Adora, Glimmer
and Madame Razz, indicating their importance too.
Although
he was one of the main characters in the series, episodes would
often focus around the
fact that Bow, like Glimmer, is a person who needs to grow up and
think before he acts. On too
many occasions Bow would be too eager to fight [29, 49, 66] and even admitted to finding
it
'fun' [84], a pointer that would get him
into trouble more often than not. Bow's habit of speaking
his mind would also prove a heavy flaw. [31, 49, 52]
His
relationship with Kowl is one that should be outlined. The two
seem to have known each
other for a long time, but for how long, nobody quite knows.
Their love/hate friendship is
often played up quite dramatically, often resulting in Kowl
winning in terms of witty lines.
[08, 41, 64]
Bow's
attraction to She-Ra and Adora could not be more coincidental.
Completely oblivious to the
secret Adora has been told to keep, Bow has never cottoned on to
the fact that they are the same
person.
His
feelings for She-Ra are never returned [08, 12, 52], just as they are unrequited
as far
as Adora is concerned. [17, 84, 92] However, perhaps Bow would
have fared better with Flutterina,
with whom he also showed an interest [68] - then again, after looking at
his track-record, maybe
not...
