What kind of breeder are you?

There are two kinds of breeders - Good and Bad.

A good breeder is an Ultimate Show Breeder.

A bad breeder is everyone else.

If you are not truly interested in becoming an Ultimate Show Breeder, you have no business breeding dogs, Backyard Breeder!

An Ultimate Show Breeder understands the nuances of the pedigree.   They know what each abbreviation stands for, and they, and they alone, get honest answers as to the complete genetic health of every dog on their pedigrees.   It is this insight that allows them to expose the posers - millers, greeders and backyardbreeder's - who try to hide substandard mutts in pedigrees.

An Ultimate Show Breeder knows that a pedigree in which every dog is not a Champion is not the pedigree of an Ultimate Show Breeder's dog, but the pedigree of a Miller.

Only an Ultimate Show Breeder is an expert and knows what they are doing when working with dangerous color combinations and extreme inbreeding.

You see, the Ultimate Show Breeder learns from the masters.   They sit at the feet of great pedigree Livestock breeders and learn techniques for enhancing specific traits, promoting a female line, blending inbred lines and so on.   In fact, every aspect of pedigree manipulation can be garnered from a close study of the inspired work of Livestock breeders.

Nature's wisdom must always be held in great respect.  The Ultimate Show Breeder must put on his 'population geneticist' cap to guide the wisdom of nature to select the healthiest and vitalist animals.

Of course, our assistance to nature, necessary because we responsibly control the breeding selections of our dogs, comes through peer reviewal of our champions' traits, both good and mediocre, in the show ring.   Only when a dog has achieved top tributes can we be sure we have interpreted nature's choices accurately and identified the fittest specimens to breed.

Our rigorous genetic testing comes into play as well, as surely nature would never allow survival of a defective specimen.   So again we help Nature by identification through testing those that could even possibly produce a defect, and we strictly cull them from the genepool.

The Ultimate Show Breeder will never allow his or her expensive, prized companions to attempt natural breeding.   Again, here we have learned from the groundbreaking experience of the Livestock breeders.   They have pioneered the use of artificial insemination, saving their Livestock from the physical assault of so-called "natural" breeding and simultaneously tightening their lines.

You see, sometimes a dog will refuse to mate a close relative, so the Ultimate Show Breeder can come to nature's assistance and improve the closeness of the pedigree by forcing artificial insemination.

Other times dogs in the course of natural mating will injure each other or just be physically incapable of performing the deed.

To do any other type of breeding other than Artificial Insemination is a breeding of convenience and the Hallmark of a Backyard Breeder.   It is grossly irresponsible as it needlessly endangers the health and well-being of the dog, something only a PuppyMiller would do.
