"He was unstoppable!" says Rick's old boxing coach, "He was like a locomotive and his opponent was a quarter on the railroad tracks!" This is very true. Rick was a boxing champion and an olympic hopeful, that is until tragedy struck. While riding his motorcycle, Rick hit some loose gravel on the road and wrecked. He was bed ridden for years trying to recover. "It was a very hard time in my life," says Rick, "I was once unstoppable and now I was bed ridden."
With nothing to do and laying in bed all day Rick took up watching TV a lot. "My favorite show was WCW Nitro!" quotes Rick, "I loved it so much that I had to try it out for myself!" Rick's dream caim true. After seven years lying in bed, he made a comeback and joined World Championship Wrestling in late 1995. His total record was 1-194. "I didn't care that I lost much as long as I hurt the other guy!" says Rick.
Rick got to wrestle such greats as Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair. He even beat Rey Mysterio Jr. once. Rick was unstoppable that is until tragedy struck again. While wrestling Ric Flair at Halloween Havoc 1999, he landed on his neck awkwardly after given a piledriver. His neck broke and Rick was out of action for around seven months. When Rick returned to the WCW office in May of 2000, Eric Bischoff was waiting for him with a certificate of termination.
It had happened again. Rick was on a roll and then out of nowhere something got in his way. But Rick wasn't done yet. Rick, being the go getter he is, decided he would take up a part time job refing matches for a local wrestling federation, the UWC. He enjoys refing and when asked about it he says "I love my new job! I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world!"
