A note from the educational director

Sleep disorders effect approximately 75 million individuals and the number is continually increasing. The need for educational programs in the sleep medicine field is essential for proper treatment and diagnostic testing.  Educational updates are crucial to recognize signs and symptoms of sleep-related problems.

Sleep Medicine Education is essential for the safety, diagnostic accuracy and treatment of persons suspected of having a sleep disorder. Sleep disturbances effect the quality of life and often, routine activities of daily living. Many sleep disorders are life-threatening due to the consequences of sleep deprivation and other related medical conditions.

Due to the overall concern for those individuals suffering from sleep maladies, and the desire to promote sleep awareness, the American Academy of  Health Sciences set forth  its educational and research goals to provide quality patient care and foundation education. This assures accurate testing and diagnosis. Health professionals are also prepared for board examinations as provided by the American Board of Sleep Medicine Examinations (ABSM) and the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists. (BRPT)
