Covalent Bond

Bond
----------------
Covalent bond are when atoms are covalently linked. It is when atoms share pairs of electrons. To be more specific, two atoms can share a pair of electrons. When one pair of electrons are being linked, it is called a single bond. Two pairs of electrons that are covalented linked, is a double bond. Three pairs of electrons covalently linked is a triple bond. So in covalent bondings, atoms can have more than two electrons being shared.

Example:

There are a bunch of hydrogen and carbon atoms, together, called hydrocarbons.

A single bond between a hydrogen atom and  a carbon atom is called an alkane.

A double bond between a hydrogen atom and a carbon atom is called an alkene.

A triple bond between a hydrogen atom and a carbon atom is called an alkyne.

Just for the heck of it, a two double bonds of it is called a diene, which is the same as diolefin.
