Stoichiometry is the calculation of the quantities of chemical elements or compounds involved in chemical reactions. |
The mole is an amount of substance equal in grams to the sum of the atomic weights. It is Avogadro's Number, which is: 1 mole = 6.02214199 x 10^23 molecules. Moles = molecules 6.022... Moles and grams are related by using the atomic weights in the periodic table. Atomic weights on the periodic table are given in terms of atomic mass units (amu), but an amu is the same as a gram per mole (so if 1 carbon atom weighs 12 amu, then 1 mole of carbon atoms weigh 12 grams.
