I'll be putting Newton's 3 laws of motion here too when I find the time. If there are some inaccurate descriptions you detect let us know. If you want a discussion to suggest ideas, bring it to our boards. You are welcome to submit more information too. |
Physics ---------------- |
Ampere’s Law (States that): The sum of the products over the closed path equals the product of the current. Avogadro’s Law (States that): The volume of a gas is determined not only by the pressure and volume but also by the quantity of gas. Boyle’s Law (States that): The volume of a gas increases as the pressure decreases if the temperature does not change. Bragg's Law (States that): When a beam of x-rays strikes a crystal surface in which the layers of atoms or ions are separated by a distance, the maximum intensity of the reflected ray occurs. Charle’s Law (States that): The volume of a gas increases as the temperature increases if the pressure does not change. Coulomb’s Law (Is): The force of attraction between two points of opposite electrical charge. Faraday’s Law (States that): The emf induced in a wire is proportional to the rate of the flux through the loop. Gauss's Law (States that): The total of the electric flux out of a closed surface is equal to the charge enclosed divided by the permittivity. Henry's Law (States that): At a constant temperature the mass of gas dissolved in a liquid at equilibrium is proportional to the partial pressure of the gas. Hess's Law (States that): If reactants can be converted into products by a series of reactions, the sum of the heats of these reactions is equal to the heat of reaction for direct conversion from reactants to products. Hooke’s Law (Is): The direct relationship between an applied force and the change in length of a spring. (States that): the deformation of a body is proportional to the magnitude of the deforming force, provided that the body's elastic limit is not exceeded. Lenz’s Law (If): The magnetic field generated by the induced current could be in the same direction as the original change in flux, the change would get larger and the induced current greater. Ohm's Law (Is): The potential difference (voltage) across an ideal conductor is proportional to the current through it. (Voltage = Current times Resistance / V = I x R). Raoult's Law (Is): The partial vapour pressure of a solvent is proportional to its mole fraction. Snell's Law (Is): A law of geometric optics that defines the amount of bending that takes place when a light ray strikes a refractive boundary. Wien's Law: (States that): A graph of the amount of energy radiated by a black body at different wavelengths rises smoothly from lower energies at shorter wavelengths to a peak at some intermediate wavelength, then slides down smoothly again towards lower energies at longer wavelengths. |
