Welcome from the Chair

The Department of Sociology & Anthropology at the University of La Verne is a student-friendly department offering the highest-quality classes and programs in Anthropology, Behavioral Sciences, Criminology, Ethnic Studies, and Sociology.

Housed within the College of Arts and Sciences, our orientation centers around  a research-based critical/humanistic perspective, and focuses on issues involving social justice and a sustainable natural and social environment. Students also complete a 96 hour Internship in a social service agency and a culminating Senior Project that involves an original social science research project, including data collection, analysis, and presentation of results to faculty and peers.

Our Faculty are teachers, researchers, and scholars, and all of our faculty teach online classes in the Criminology Online Program, offered in cooperation with the ULV School of Continuing Education. Our Faculty have published numerous books, articles, and reviews, and encourage students to become scholars as well.

The Department offers full-service advising for students, as well as several student clubs and Honor Societies. We also do extensive mentoring with our students, and many of our students continue on to graduate schools, law schools, and professional programs after graduating.
