CrimOnline Mission Statement

The mission of the ULV Online BS in Criminology (CrimOnline) is to prepare students for their academic, professional and personal futures in the fields of law, law enforcement, corrections, and social services related to crime and delinquency.  The Sociology and Anthropology Department faculty are committed to providing a forum in which students learn to integrate content, skills, theory, applications and personal growth through a comprehensive and rigorous curriculum.   The successful student is prepared not only to implement policy, but to participate in making and managing policies relating to crime and delinquency in new and changing contexts.


CrimOnline Program Learning Objectives

              1. To develop a theoretical understanding of the historical and contemporary social contexts and 
                   causes of crime and delinquency, including both “street crime” and corporate crime.

              2. To develop an understanding of the legal foundations and processes relating to crime,
                  delinquency and punishment.

              3. To develop an understanding of the research process from the perspectives of both producers
                   and consumers of scientific knowledge about crime and delinquency.

              4. To develop an understanding and gain first hand knowledge of agency work related to crime
                   and delinquency.
