| As the Brazilian field artillery's oldest regiment, this unit is probably the most combatant of the Imperial Army. Created in 1831, it took part in the southern campaigns of 1851-52 against the Argentinean dictator Juan Manuel Rosas - Battle of Caseros, in Uruguay (1864) - Payssandu and against Paraguay (1864-1870) - Tuyuty, Curupaity, Lomas Valentinas and Peribibuy. | |||||||||
