The Imperial Honor Guard was created in 1822. The uniform was based on the Austrian Dragoons while the helmet is the heraldic dragoon of the Royal and Imperial House of Bragança.  On his left arm a badge can be seen. On it the words "Viva o Imperador" (Long live the emperor) are written.
