At the beginning of the XIX century, South American armies were dressed in a varied of different ways. The uniforms themselves were inherited from Portugal and Spain traditions and reflected the long time the new-born countries were under domain of those two European powers. As time progressed, the countries added some peculiarities to the uniforms that have to do with their own culture along with the needs in South America battlefields. British and French uniforms also had some influence over the armies of the new-born countries. | |||||||||||||||||||||
