If you are interested in contributing more to UMSD, consider being part of the Executive! Nominations are due during the second-last week of classes in the Winter term. Elections are held on the day of the Swing-Off Term End Party.

Note: Considering we are a U of M student group, executives must be enrolled in the U of M during the school year in which he/she is acting as an executive member.

	President: · provides direction regarding the development and realization of the vision of UMSD · acts as the “official spokesperson,” whose comments and opinions directly reflect those of UMSD · as head representative, must act responsibly and in accordance with the mission and purpose of UMSD as stated in the constitution · oversees all UMSD activities and events and provides leadership and direction to the Executive Council · acts as chairperson for Executive meetings · in charge of the completion of yearly application for student group status with UMSU · responsible for creation, signing and enforcement of all contracts, including those with dance instructors · responsible for keeping a history log to monitor UMSD progress · is an active co-signer for the club’s financial account Vice-President · acts as ambassador to U of M organizations and outside dance community in the interests of the club · works closely with President regarding the vision of UMSD · relates to general swing dance club student body regarding membership feedback · regularly checks and replies to UMSD e-mail and voice-mail · responsible for informing members of upcoming events and any schedule changes by e-mail and if required, phone · responsible for organizing class, Executive supervision and Executive meeting schedules · is an active co-signer for the club’s financial account Director of Administrative Affairs: · manages all paperwork relating to UMSD (organization and filing of membership forms, documents, contracts etc.) · responsible for digital database of UMSD members and contact directory (instructors, media contacts etc.) · checks UMSD mailbox regularly for invoices and account balances, distributing rest of mail to appropriate persons · responsible for office upkeep (cleaning and organization) · takes minutes during UMSD exec meetings, types them up, and maintains a chronological log book in UMSD office · responsible for inter-Executive communication (informing and reminding Executive of meetings etc.) · manages and records of expenses and revenue through monitoring of the UMSD bank account · makes weekly deposits · prepares an on-going updated monthly budget and inventory list that shall be presented at each monthly executive meeting · responsible for reimbursement for purchases · responsible for paying all bills including all UMSU fees (Copy Center, mailbox, key deposit etc.) · is an active co-signer for the club’s financial account Director of Promotions and Publicity: · innovates and implements promotional schemes and products · in charge of distribution and creation of all promotional and publicity items, contacting and liasing with all necessary persons to complete this role · responsible for contacting outside parties that relate to the mission and vision of UMSD regarding possible promotional opportunities and alliances Social Coordinator: · innovates and organizes all social events in promoting the purpose of the club including recruitment week, open house, socials, term end swing-off parties · responsible for organizing all aspects of a social event, including location of space and musical equipment, tickets, refreshments, prizes, etc. · responsible for booking venue with residence, Special Functions, and UMSU (Robert Parker Lounge for movie nights, Auditorium for classes, UMSU for recruitment week etc.) · responsible for booking and/or acquiring of music and other equipment Fundraiser · innovating and planning all fundraising events including raffle draws, fundraising socials etc. · responsible for requesting sponsorship from UMSU and other organizations · responsible for all funding requests given to UMSU and other organizations Graphic/Web Designer · responsible for design, posting and maintenance of the UMSD web page · acquires all images used for promotion and documentation such as digital photographs, video footage etc. · responsible for designing all aspects of promotional materials (pamphlets, signs, T-shirts etc.) including any UMSD logos · in charge of UMSD product design Application for the Graphic/Web Designer position requires the following: · completion of the application form found in Appendix C · knowledge of graphic design applications such as Photoshop and Illustrator · example of previously designed pamphlet, poster and logo to be provided to UMSD
