MY PALM OS HANDHELD SITE |
My First Handheld
|
I was choosing between Palm OS or Windows CE before I went on buying the hardward. After a lot of consideration, I found that I only need a simple gadget like Casio credit card sized info-manager that store phone numbers, do calculation and store a few important dates.
Hence, I chose Palm OS based handheld because of its simplicity. Windows CE OS is liked common PC Windows.. I don't really want that.
So, my first handheld was Handspring Visor Prism. It's a great companion, has excellent Calendar facility.. the DateBook+. I bought SplashPhoto from SplashData and BankBook from Bahsoft, both excellent software to view the picture of my loves ones and to keep track of my finance respectively. The colour is above par too.
I also bought InnoPocket adapter for Compact Flash card, and 128MB CF external memory card. It comes with so called file manager to manage the files, but I prefer the way the just release Palm OS 4.1 handle external memory. However, it is quite bulky, but my wife like it. So, I ended up passing the Visor Prism to my wife.

At the time I gave my Visor Prism
to my wife, the Palm m515 was out in market. Equipped with 16MB RAM and
brighter screen.. it attrack my attention. After a brief survey, I
bought it.. mainly due to the fact that I like it small.. a lot smaller than
my previous Visor Prism.
But, the colour is not as bright and vivid as the Visor Prism.. and it is rather disappointing thought. However, I like the features in the Palm OS 4.1.. like the software support for external memory which Palm 3.5 (in Visor Prism) doesn't have. A bit of consolation.. but still.. the colour...!!! Another things that I miss from my previous Visor Prism are DateBook+ and CityTime. Palm is cheap-stake.. on this matter..!! But overall, the Palm m515 smaller size wins my heart.
