Concert Plans

Date
-concert date chosen to be Wednesday, May 10th
-Joyce Morgan gave us the choice between Tuesday May 9th and Wednesday May 10th.  Wednesday chosen because more students are on campus on MWF  as opposed to TuTh
-other concert will take place on the same day, pending other schools’ final exam schedules

Involvement of other UMass Campuses
-UMass Amherst and UMass Lowell both have ALD chapters
-UMass Dartmouth does not have ALD chapter, but has large student body
-concerns about size of UMass Lowell student body–smallest UMass Campus
-UMass Worcester a medical school, probably not interested in becoming involved
-proposal to contact UMass Dartmouth Honors Program to recruit volunteers, or see if they have a different honor society
-posed question of whether the concert should be strictly an ALD affair, or universal UMass project
-concerns that UMass Lowell does not have room to host concert because they are an urban campus
-group decided it was best to involve only UMass Amherst ALD in addition to our chapter

UMass Amherst and UMass Boston Plans
-both concerts to be held on Wednesday May 10, 2006
-UMass Boston concert to take place in afternoon to attract daytime commuter students
-target times either 12pm-5pm or 1pm-6pm
-UMass Amherst meeting to take place in evening
  -target time 7pm-10pm or 8pm-11pm
-our ALD officers can go to UMass Amherst concert after our afternoon concert

Concert name and logo
-as yet undecided
-temporarily called “The One” concert by Mike in info packet, concerns about trademark on that title

Letter drafts
-Mike’s letter-should be attached to all outgoing letters
~concerns about tone being too harsh/commanding, too many statistics, not personal enough.  Suggestion to add separate sheet with personal stories and photos.
~Mike’s goal was to use shock tactics to recruit support
~Jacqueline will help Mike reedit his letter, and new draft will be sent to all officers for final proofread
~ALD letterhead liked by all, to be used on all outgoing letters.  Mike will send it to everyone in time for next meeting.

           ~very informative, professional letter
-Kate’s letters-to be sent to UMass Amherst ALD and celebrity guests
            ~UMass letter approved by all
~celebrity letter to be kept short, use of flattery
