Dear fellow members: I am writing this in regards to saftey equipment, for those not thinking you dont need it or that they wont tech me that far, need to reconsider. At the last UMRA race we explode a tranny. I mean dissinagrated more like it. I had a trans shield on it and yet the torque convertor found it in its heart to pierce the floor directly under the throttle. I have been limping all week due to this and I am extremely happy that I had the shield in place. The shield didn't completely stop it but slowed it down enough to save my leg from being removed. The drive shaft between the tranny and transfer also pierced the floor and was slowed by the saftey equipmenmt required by UMRA. Saftey equipment is very important whether it be in the stock class or unlimited. After seeing what could of happened I wouldn't get in a stock truck without a trans shield and drive shaft loops. Saftey is of upmost importance and can't be overlooked because we sometimes get in a hurry ask Kenny who runs with Ed Block, He had a trans come apart also and did alot of damage to his foot. We are all out to have a good time and dont want to see anyone hurt or even worse. Keep this in mind everytime you tech in, if you dont have the saftey equipment, think twice before pulling to the line, because it may be your last pass. Special thanks to Sandon for his quick recation in seeing something was wrong and getting there quickly. Best wishes and may we have a safe season. Thanks Disorderly Conduct To race participants: At our first race of the season, the UMRA let some rules slide. This was done for first timers to be able to race. Find out the rules and fix the trucks accordingly for our next event. After seeing an exploding transmission, an engine blow up, a truck catch on fire and a radiator hose burst seconds after a racer closed the hood. We WILL be enforcing our safety rules the rest of the season. If you DO NOT comply you will not race!! NO EXCEPTIONS!! I would rather see you walk away mad, than ride away in an ambulance! If you have any question, the rules are on this web site, ask a fellow racer, or EMAIL Sandon at thesandman1971@hotmail.com Sincerly, UMRA STAFF
