It is a right, however, that we see regularly violated in the case of children from our poorer communities because of the lack of family or community resources or the need for the child to contribute to the family finances or undertake chores to free a family member to earn a living.
Children need to play and actively seek play experiences which, we have seen, is one of the street's major attractions.
We believe that children have the right to education and view schooling as the work of the child.
School is the place for children to test their competencies and develop confidence in their ability to take the initiative in their lives.
We find the formal environment for education being debased, however, by an uncritical acceptance of mediocre standards of school performance. We want instead to raise aspirations and help children expand their options.
We believe that each child is a unique person whose special talents and abilities need to be recognized and developed.
Accordingly, we endeavor to provide a personalized approach in helping children at risk. In this task, our most valuable resource are people willing to share their time with others.
We believe that we are all part of one family in God. As an organization, we are committed to providing others with an opportunity for service and seek to actively encourage volunteerism.
