The Boyds Folkstone Collection...in my opinion...is an acquired taste. The Folkstones are certainly not your anatomically correct figurines like the Bearstones, instead they are tall and lanky. I started collecting only the bears at first, then I discovered the moose, hares, cats, dogs, cows had a fascination all their own....but no frogs, angels or fairies. I also seem to choose the Santa folkstones...they are skinny ones but still have a jolly spirit.

The Folkstones have actually become a sort of challenge for me. I have found it easier to find the first editions in retail stores and fewer people hoard the elusive older figurines. The first love of any young girl is her teddy bear. Is there a young girl who did not share her first dance with her teddy? Who is it that listens ever so well to the details of a first date or a first kiss? Teddies are someone to hold on to in the dark of night and to enjoy the good times with in the day. Teddy bears are constant and true companions from cradle to the grave and all stops in between. No teddy bear lover could not have an immediate attachment to Boyds' plush. These charming little critters are cute enough to steal your heart in a second. These bears (and all the other animals) are meant to be hugged.

From the first mohair bear to the well dressed Jackie...from the QVC exclusives like Justina and Matthew to the regular retail Boyds plush, all are instant happiness...all you need to add is love.
Of course one would have to win the lottery to afford all the plush animals in the Boyds line, but making the decision of which one to take home is half the fun. I decided long ago that I must all the collect the Bailey, Matthew, Edmund, and Emily's. They are on my must have list. The mohair bears, hares, cats, and now the moose are my second must. If a bear "talks" to me when I walk by it in a store, then it comes home with me. The plush are as individual as the "stone" creations. Choosing favorites in them is very hard to do. As long as I am doing "top ten lists", here is another.
