1) Computers are expensive electronic devices that can be damaged by misuse: banging, hitting, lifting, and shaking.
2) You must have turned in a signed (by parents or legal guardians) and completed Computer User Permission Form to me before you will be able to use a computer in the classroom or library and media center.
3) You should never give out personal information about yourself or anyone you know on the internet, or store on a computer hard disk. Distributing personal information can cause you or another person many problems, so don't do it!
4) Do not download any questionable content material: This includes pornographic, criminal, vulgar, hateful, or religious or cult recruitment materials.
5) If you have a question about anything you want to download, you need to get permission from the teacher.
6) The computer is for educational research and development. It is not a toy or a mailbox or phone. You must conduct personal computer business at home.
7) Be courteous of other students working in the classroom when you use the computer. Do not turn volume for speakers above the levels marked on the speaker cases. Do not holler for other students to come "Check Out Something Neat" and remember not to exceed your allotted time limit when other students are waiting to use the computer also.
8) Do not, under any circumstances, download any software without first checking with the teacher. This includes flash media players, etc. No Exceptions.
9) If you ever feel uncomfortable about something that has happened during your use of a computer at home or at school, let your parents and teachers know as soon as possible. Do not under any circumstances ever arrange to "meet" in person or give to them personal information (address/phone) without telling your parents. They should accompany you to meet strangers at every opportunity.
10) Do not use food, drink, gum, tobacco products, or any liquid material near, on, or above the computer workstation. Do not use your hands to wipe the screen. Do not bring any disks from home to use, they will be provided to you.
11) Exploring the internet can be like exploring a new continent, there are millions of things to see and learn, however, there are also hazardous and dangerous opportunities for young and experienced explorers.
12) Have Fun. Take a trip to a new land or visit with internet pen pal who goes to school in Japan or France or Germany. Go spelunking in a cave or walk on the moon with the astronauts. Go to Washington and hear Martin Luther King give his famous, "I Have A Dream" speech. Learn something amazing and tell your friends and your parents and your brothers and sisters.
