There is a caern.  An isolated, unknown caern, deep in the umbra, one that has had no contact with the outside world for two centuries.  They were brought there as an experiment, though they did not know that.  The totem spirit of their tribe wished for more effective fighters for Gaia's cause.  And so the unicorn, that gentle, giving spirit, showed these Garou to a protected place, a seperate place, and bid them to breed.  They brought all their kinfolk, and the Unicorn would fetch more from time to time, but in addition to the requirement that they breed with the kinfolk, they were also required to breed Garou to Garou.  In exchange for this departure from the laws as the caern knew them, all resulting Metis were gifted with a single silver horn standing straight from their forehead.  Every fertile Garou was expected to bring forth at least one Metis, at least one offspring that would be guaranteed to posess the gifts of Gaia, able fight with all Her strength.  And so the centuries passed, and the Metis outnumbered the regular Garou.  They grew in power, and in status, until the "half-blood" werewolves were looked down on as Metis are in most of Garou society.  The silver-horned Metis called them "breeders," and considered only themselves to be Gaia's true hand.
