Festival of Flowers
Christchurch is called the International Garden City. Appropriately, each year they hold a week long Garden City Festival of Flowers. During this time, there are floral displays throughout the city, typically in Cathedral Square, Victoria Square and along the Avon River. Here are some pictures from the Festival.
The Avon River
runs through the heart of Christchurch. These floral displays were placed
along different parts of the River during the Festival.

Myself and Marvin Christiansen enjoy the Festival in Victoria Square (left), the Botanical Gardens (middle) and Cathedral Square (right). | The Tram is decorated for the occasion. | The theme for this years Festival was "Fantastical," and womens groups, churches, horticultural societies, etc, designed numerous floral arrangements with this theme in mind, and displayed them in the Cathedral. The right picture is part of the "floral carpet" that lined the center aisle of the Cathedral. |
