Witchcraft Information and Spell Bound Terms

The months were June through September. The year was 1692. During this time, a total of 19 men and women (on record) were sent to Gallows Hill to be hanged. Why, you might ask? All were under suspicion of witchcraft. Another man, said to be of about 80 years of age was also killed, but not by hanging. Rather by having heavy stones placed on his body for refusal of trial.

Witchcraft has been noted for centuries. Back in 1692, all who were said to have been a witch were immediately killed or at minimum, tried. Today Witchcraft and Wicca are quite popular and people who do study upon this are not hanged in front of a crowd. It is more of a "freedom factor" when it comes to what you wish to believe. No matter what you are or who you are, you believe something. Witchcraft is another form of self belief (of who you think, or know, you really are). This is witchcraft to an extent.

Harry Potter is one of the most unique books I have read, personally. The author, J.K. Rowling, took a chance and brought out "children's" books dealing, surprisingly, with witchcraft and wizardry. All of the books appeal to me all though I am not really a child anymore. I believe they appeal to anyone who wants to read something unusual to the basic set of reading material. I own all of the books(years 1-5) and have read them all atleast twice. Many statements have been made mentioning how the books are "satin worshiping" and "evil". I think this is crazy. They are supposed to simply get children (and several adults!) to enjoy reading again. Witchcraft and Wizardry is a fascinating subject no matter how it's in context. Official Harry Potter Website
