| I use copper exclusively in my knapping - with the exception of mild steel for notching and a few hammerstones. There are also two antler billets, 1 Elk and 1 Moose that I use occasionally. Copper billets range from 5/8" to 1 1/2". Ishi Stick's are 3/4", 7/8", & 1". The 1" is made from wood with copper reducers with a mild steel dow inserted in the end - basic material you can obtain from any hardware store. Allen set screws came from a local bolt company. The edge tool I use for shearing deltas (top right) is 1" copper pipe that was flattened and soldered on the end. | ||||||||||||||
| The hand billets were turned down at a local machine shop from some copper I had and the handles were made by Tom Richter of T&J Copper Supplies in Pipe Creek, Tex. from Delrin (1 1/2 x 3/8", 1 x 1/4", & 5/8 x 1/4") |
