I can't really decide ... I love them all. I guess if the texture and color is there after it's heated and the workability is smooth and not Mean (easy to pressure flake, knap or flute), I guess, I would call it a favorite. Not going to get away with that, huh? O.K. How about this? I love Obsidian, probably because of the ease of working it. I would recommend this to any beginner along with glass, but the utmost caution must be used, as this is the sharpest known edge in the world. I have to add Coral in there because of the rainbow of colors when heat treated to perfection. Arizona Jasper because of the patterns created by geological transformation at the time of formation (it contains hundreds of healed fractures) and has a very high gloss when heat treated. But I guess my favorite of favorites will have to be highgrade Rootbeer. No inclusions, transparent and a mirror gloss when properly heated. The perfect stone for reproductions. I get excited just talking about it and it stays at the top of my Find list. |
