Q1. Bobby, things are looking up for The Undead already this year, a successful show at CBGB'S in March in celebration of your 50th Birthday. On the same night, you announced that the Undead are to play at Tompkins Square on July 23rd. Can fans expect a tour in the near future of some sort or the occassional show now and again for the time being?
BS: I'm actually not planning any touring for another 2 years. We'll probably stick to doing gigs in the Northeast for awhile. I've been pretty ill the past few months. I kinda ran myself down, and now im dealing with some serious chronic fatigue. The Birthday Bash was a major effort for me, and the only way i was able to pull that off at all was to sleep right until I was supposed to hit the stage. It's gonna take some time to recover from all that.
During this period, I'll be working on releasing some material from our archives, and we'll have an all new studio album out in the Spring of 2008 - with a major tour behind it. The first thing is tentatively titled HITS FROM HELL - it's gonna give you a whole new perspective on THE MISFITS place in the history of punk, and it oughta piss the fuck out of them, Caroline and the shitheads at EMI - who threatened to have me arrested over 12 HITS. I wanna see the fuck heads reaction to HITS FROM HELL.
Q2. You recently sent a batch of cd's of The Undead album 'Til Death' to CDBABY....and only after a few days they were sold out. I understand that you have sent another bunch and they will recieve and stock them within a couple of days. This must be a really encouraging sign, do you plan on releasing further albums and possibly singles through CDBABY and other online outlets?
BS: Definitely, but only through CDBABY. It took me over two years to get the CDNOWS, and AMAZONS to stop selling counterfeit copies of my music. They thought they could fuck with me because I'm some little guy, and they've got high powered lawyers - so I threatened to get my UZI, and visit their offices and straighten it all out. I don't play games with the big guys - you fuck with me, and it may take time but I'm gonna get justice...that goes for little miss evil elvis, too.
Q3: From what I understand the fairly recent single 7" releases from The Undead (Third World USA, Rock 'N' Roll Whore, Be My Ghoul) have all sold out, you have any plans to re-release these singles or possibly compiling them for a future cd release?
BS: There's actually still copies of BE MY GHOUL. Since we had to cancel the tour for that one, I still have most of my copies. As soon as I get Post Mortem running again - they'll be available. CDBABY could sell them for me, but the markup is insane on 45's. Unless we open a POST MORTEM store online, CDBABY is the only legit online source for our music currently. They'll be arranging to have our stuff available for downloads at all the major download sites, too.
I'm considering a LTD ED CD of the 3 45's...and maybe ad the unreleased TEARS ON A PILLOW on that, but I'm working on the DAWN OF THE UNDEAD reissue right now - I don't want anyone else to have to pay $56 for a copy on Ebay...yet ;)
- Can we expect TEARS ON A PILLOW to come out by the end of the year?
BS: Not likely, Possibly Summer 2007, not unless somebody comes along and releases it for me...
