BOBBY STEELE INTERVIEW CONTINUED... | ||||
Q9. Bobby, it has been well documented that The Undead continued to sell records really well..however..you seemed to attract no major labels at any time. Was it a conscience decision to stay clear of major record labels knowing that you had been screwed out of thousands of dollars through distrobution companies throughout the years? BS: When I named the band THE UNDEAD, I was warned that it'd be a curse, and that no label would ever sign with us with that name. I didn't care then, I don't care now. If Warner Bros came to me right now and offered to let me have 100% control over my music, packaging, and marketing - I'd take it. The bottom line is that record labels are fascist organisations that want a way to control you, as well as your fan base. I'm uncontrollable - and they're all chicken shit. They wouldn't know talent if it kicked them in the balls - which they lack, too. Q10. Bobby...what do you think of the bands on the scene right now? Any you have taken a liking to in paticular? Seen any bands live? BS: As I mentioned earlier - I've been laid up, and out of touch with what's out there. I can say that I haven't heard anything that impresses me - it's all corporate...punk bands from NYC that no NYC punk band had heard of before their major label debut; punk bands who's daddy owns a modeling agency, or writes hit shows...it's all bullshit. If you look at anyone who's getting signed these days - you'll find a relative behind the scenes. Fucking Britney Spears is far more honest than the commercial 'punk' bands. - Thank you Bobby for taking the time to answer my questions with such promptness...best of luck in the future with The Undead! BS: Thanks. It was fun... |
