| DANZIG - THE FORUM, LONDON, ENGLAND (14/05/05) | ||||
| I arrived at the Forum pretty early, around 4pm in the hope that I'd catch the soundcheck...within five minutes of standing outside the main entrance i hear the opening riff to Twist of Cain in the background, I tried looking through the doors to catch a glimpse of something but I could see nothing. I went round the back of the venue where by the step I was walking the music was getting louder...I find a point where I can go no further because of the security gates, but I could hear the soundcheck real well from where I was...I could hear no vocals, it was just Tommy, Jerry and Johnny playing but none the less it was great to hear the songs being played...For those intrested they played; Twist Of Cain Snakes Of Christ How The Gods Kill Skull Forrest Do You Wear The Mark Black Angel, White Angel Going Down To Die I could not believe i heard Going Down To Die, this sounded blinding just like on the record and Tommy nailed the solo perfectly! After this, I waited around until the doors opened which was at 7pm, they opened pretty much on time and soon as I got in I made my way to the front, right near the stage... I didn't buy any merch before hand as I was pretty tight for money as I was going to the Nottingham gig the next day...I did manage to see what they were selling though, some T-shirts (classic skull Shirt, CoS Tour Shirt), priced at £17, pretty steep if you ask me...they also had the Satans Child postere flag for £6 and a Danzig classic skull hoody for £45! Anyways, I waited around until 7:45pm for Breed77 to hit the stage, they were fucking awful to cut to it, the crowd showed no intrest what so ever apart from five teen girls on the barrier...they played a 45 minute set but it seemed much longer as it always does with shitty support bands, it really pissed me off knowing that I was gonna be standing through the same shitty set the next night, oh well... Danzig's road crew began to set up their gear...by this time the venue was pretty much full to the brim up...I guess around 1300 had made it to tonight's show, pretty damn good I thought considering the last Danzig show at the Forum wasn't so good...none the less, the fans turned out in force. At 9pm, the lights dimmed and Wotans Procession started to play through the speakers much to the crowds delight...Tommy Victor then made his way center-stage and went into Skin Carver...Jerry and Johnny made their way on stage with the crowd at this point going crazy in anticipation knowing the Glenn was about to take stage. The enevitable happened and Glenn walked on with the crowd going bezerk! Only a few seconds into the song Glenn fell flat on his back tripping over a misplaced speaker, he quickly got on his feet and picked up the speaker and threw it down into the security pit much to the crowds approval...and before i knew it they had played most of the set, the crowd was fucking crazy throughout...Here's the set list for those intrested... Wotans Procession Skin Carver Circle Of Snakes Black Mass I Luciferi Satans Child 1000 Devils Reign How The Gods Kill Its Coming Down Her Black Wings Going Down To Die Until You Call On The Dark Skulls Black Angel, White Angel Bringer Of Death Twist Of Cain Mother ----------------------------------------- Dirty Black Summer Do You Wear The Mark Glenn seemed to be having an awesome time as did the rest of the band, he especially seemed to appreciate the crowds response at the end of How the Gods Kill...Skulls was an unbelievable suprise, the crowd celebrated in the right way by going fucking full out when it was being played...Going Down to Die sounded great with Glenn delivering paticuarly decent vocals on this one and for me personally it was great to finally hear Dirty Black Summer live as this has always been one of my favourite Danzig songs... After the show, I made my way to the back of the venue where I was previously listening to the soundcheck, I and a few others caught Glenn walking out of the venue exit, everyone shouted his name and he looked over and smiled and put up his hand as a sign of acknowlegment, he then made his way onto the tour bus. Big Val came over and started to take people's items they wanted to get signed but I left and figured I'd get my stuff signed after the Nottingham show as I would have more time... |
